Our beautiful building dates back to 1721, when it was originally built as a School.
The Lyric Rooms, was also previously a cinema called the Lyric Picture Palace.
The cinema, which opened in 1912, was originally the former Wagon & Horses public house.
The Lyric Rooms, as it is today, is the result of extensive renovations and in August 2022, The Lyric Rooms has seen a complete overhaul of the interior decor, including the reception area and a brand new and fully refurbished bar.
As recently as May 2023, The Lyric Rooms has had brand new carpets throughout the main hall, balcony and bar areas and as of December 2023 our beautiful new ceiling has been wowing our guests with its elegance, cozy and intimate lighting.
